Harbourside Joinery

Bespoke oak and ash joinery, made by hand in our harbour-town workshop

Made by hand, on the edge of the harbour

We're a two-person joinery workshop tucked into a converted sail loft overlooking the docks. Everything we make — fitted wardrobes, kitchen units, staircases, and sash window repairs — starts and finishes in our workshop, not in a supplier's catalogue.

Workshop-made furniture

Fitted wardrobes and kitchen units in oak and ash, measured to your room and built to fit exactly. No flat-pack shortcuts, no assembly instructions — just solid joinery that sits tight against your walls and opens smoothly for decades.

Staircases and features

Bespoke staircases in oak and ash, handrails, newels, and other fitted woodwork. We work from your measurements and your taste, and build it all here where we can see it before it leaves the workshop.

Sash window repairs

The Victorian and Georgian terraces around the docks deserve windows that slide properly. We repair and restore the sashes you have, keeping them true to the original joinery rather than ripping them out for modern frames.

Why choose a small workshop

You're not choosing from a catalogue. You're choosing two people who will measure your home, listen to what you want, make it by hand, and stand behind it when it's done.

Nothing is outsourced.

Nothing is outsourced. Every piece is made and finished in our workshop, by us. You can visit, see the work happening, ask questions. That visibility matters.

Oak and ash last for generations.

Oak and ash last for generations. Not just the wood — the joinery. Proper joints, hand-planed surfaces, finishes that age beautifully. Cheaper furniture ages differently.

We know these materials.

We know these materials. Years of working oak and ash means we know how they move, how they age, what will twist or shrink. That experience ends up in the details you never see but always feel.

Old windows get respect.

Old windows get respect. We repair what you have rather than replace it. The sashes in a 150-year-old terrace are part of the building's story. We keep them working and true to the original.

How a project starts

No guesswork. No quotes written on a phone call. Here's how we work.

We visit your home.

We visit your home. We measure the space properly, look at the light, see how the room works. We talk through what you want — timber, style, how you live in the room.

We design and quote.

We design and quote. After the visit, we draw it up and work out the cost. You get a number that's real — no surprises, no margins hidden in "installation".

We build it here.

We build it here. Once you're happy, we make it in the workshop. You can visit anytime, watch it take shape, see the craft happening.

We fit and finish.

We fit and finish. We install it carefully, adjust it so it sits and moves perfectly, finish it for you, and make sure you know how to care for it.

The workshop typically books six to eight weeks ahead. If you want something made, get in touch early — we'll fit you into the schedule and keep you posted as the work unfolds.
